Up Your Maths is run by Hassan Chaudhry, a sole trader based in Manchester. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what we do with it. If anything here isn't clear, email hello@upyourmaths.co.uk and we'll give you a straight answer.

What we collect

When you book a free session, the form asks for your name, your email address and mobile number, your child's first name, their school year, whether they're doing Foundation or Higher, their target grade, which plan you're interested in, and anything you choose to add in the notes. We deliberately don't ask for your child's surname, school, or contact details — the relationship is with you, the parent.

If you become a member, payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details — Stripe processes them and tells us the payment went through. We keep a record of your membership, plan, and payment history, as we're required to for tax purposes.

During sessions, it depends on the session. The Community sessions — the Tuesday masterclass and Thursday exam workshop — are recorded so members can rewatch them. Students join those with cameras and microphones off and ask questions in the chat, so a recording may include a student's screen name and chat messages, but never their face or voice. Small Group and one to one sessions are live only and not recorded.

For Up Your Maths Live, our free monthly session in Urmston, bookings go through Eventbrite, which asks for a parent's name, email address and mobile number, the student's first name, and their school year. If you tell us we can email you about our sessions, we will — and you can opt out at any time.

If you message us by email or WhatsApp, we'll have whatever you send us, handled under those services' own terms as well as ours.

Why we collect it

We'll only ever send you marketing if you've asked for it, and you can opt out at any time by replying or emailing us. We never sell your information, and we never share it with anyone for their marketing.

If you tell us about your child's learning needs

Parents sometimes share things that help us teach well — dyslexia, ADHD, exam anxiety, extra time arrangements. You never have to, but if you do, we treat it with particular care: it's used only to teach your child better, seen only by the teacher working with them, and deleted with the rest of your records.

Feedback and testimonials

We only publish a parent's feedback on our website with their permission, and we remove surnames, contact details, and profile photos first. If you change your mind about feedback you've let us use, tell us and we'll take it down.

Who we share it with

Only the services we use to run the business, and only what each one needs to work:

Each of these companies acts on our instructions and has its own security and privacy commitments. Some are based in the United States; where information leaves the UK, it's protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as the UK–US Data Bridge or standard contractual clauses. Beyond this list, we'd only share information if the law required it or if a child's safety made it necessary.

How long we keep it

If you enquire but don't join, we delete your details within twelve months. If you become a member, we keep your records while you're with us and for six years afterwards, because tax law requires it. Session recordings are kept while they're useful to members and then deleted.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time for a copy of the information we hold about you or your child, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (we'll do so unless the law requires us to keep it — tax records, mainly). Email hello@upyourmaths.co.uk and we'll respond within a month, usually much sooner.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk — though we'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Cookies

The site doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't run analytics that identify you. Your browser stores one small local setting so the launch banner stays closed once you've dismissed it — that never leaves your device.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged to members directly.
